AND YOU MIGHT HELP US BY...
HELPING WITH A SPECIFIC PROJECT OR REMEMBERING US IN YOUR WILL - AND HELP US TO PRESERVE SUSSEX HERITAGE FOR THE FUTURE
Please note that Sussex Past is a registered charity and does not receive any annual revenue support from the public purse NOR capital for the care of buildings and their contents. We have to raise it all from legacies, donations, grants and income. In order to do the things that we do, we earn money by charging people for entry to our historic sites and events, and we try and obtain grant funding for major capital projects. Inevitably, the grants don't cover all our capital costs, so we are grateful for Legacies and Donations which we will now record annually in the Society's Annual Report. We list names if donors and legatees are happy with that but will also respect you desire not to be identified in a public document. In 2009, anonymous donations paid for extra planting in the grounds of Lewes Castle, a new computer for our on-line scanning project based in Barbican House.....none of these could be afforded by the Society. We also would welcome donations towards capital works on properties which we would recognise in a way agreed with the donor(s). We need more help with the scanning project for which we need a big scanner and a new camera, we then put all that we can up on a the web site as many museums are now so that more people can find out what it is we have in our collections. The Museum of London has a web site like this, so does the Regency Society of Brighton and Hove - the latter like ours - done by volunteers. A scanner will cost under £3000 and the camera and its supports for the close up work on artefacts around £1000. We also welcome donations towards landscaping, at present especially at Fishbourne where we need to do a lot of work, at Anne of Cleves for the new garden scheme in the plot at the west end of the site and, at Lewes Castle where we still need more planting. There are other projects and if you are interested in a specific idea not mentioned here, please contact the Chief Executive, John Manley on.......
We do have a 'Will for Free' scheme, so if you are re-making your will, or making it for the first time, and you want to remember charities, then do think of us. Contact us on 01273-486260 or lamo@sussexpast.co.uk for a 'Will for Free' form. |
